Tehran, YJC. The Iranian FM has expressed optimism that Riyadh would prepare the ground for bilateral cooperation.
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif speaking at a press
conference with visiting Croatian counterpart Vesna Pusic in Tehran, Zarif said
in his visit to Saudi Arabia, he officially expressed condolences on the death
of King Abdullah.
'Iran and Saudi Arabia have no problems in their mutual
relations. On regional terms, it is necessary to reach a common grounds to help
the region. The Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared in this regard. We hope to
establish stability and security in the region void of any foreign interference
and with the cooperation of regional countries,' he said.
In answer to a question about a meetings in the upcoming
Munich Security Conference, the Iranian foreign minister stated he would hold
meetings on the sidelines of the conference. In the meantime, he added that no
meetings with the foreign Ministers of the Group 5+1 have been planned.
Pointing out that Munich provides an opportunity which must
be seized, he added late in the week, there would be meetings with three
European countries. There have been continuous talks with Russia and China,
too.
'Our friends in the Majlis (Iranian parliament) have already
announced that they would give a proper response to US Congress actions. It is
quite possible that the Iranian parliament does something in proportion with
the actions of the radicals in US Congress,' said Zarif.
