Tehran, YJC. Iran's Soheilipour has said that Tehran has allocated $10.37 billion to pursuing pipeline projects to transfer natural gas from Iran's major gas field of South Pars.
Asghar Soheilipour, head of the Investment Committee of the
National Gas Company of Iran speaking to reporters stated that due to the
efforts made by the Iranian minister of oil, the country’s high council of
economy has accepted to consider the pipeline as part of the major
comprehensive development plan defined for the South Pars.
The transfer project constitutes one of Iran’s high-cost
development projects, he noted, adding "A 100-kilometer transfer project,
including compressing stations and a 56-inch pipeline is going to set the
country back $4 bln."
In the meantime, he said the fund would bwe sufficient for
the gas transfer pipeline project only until 2017, while the completion of
other lines would require an extra $10bln.
The South Pars gas field’s development project has been
divided into 28 stages. The grounds of the project are located in the Persian
Gulf on the maritime border between Iran and Qatar.
Estimations go that the Iranian share of the field contains fourteen
trillion cubic meters of gas and eighteen billion barrels of in-place gas condensates.
