Tehran, YJC. An Iranian diplomat said that the country has always supported countries of the region in their fight against extremism, and is suffering heavy losses for doing so.
Meeting the outgoing Polish Ambassador to Iran Juliusz Gojlo
on Monday, Minister Morteza Sarmadi, Deputy Foreign Minister, called Iran a
peaceful oasis in the turbulent Middle East, and asserted that the region is
key to mutual cooperation between Tehran and European countries and
organizations.
It is a fortunate fact that Poland and some European countries
have understood the facts on the ground well, he added.
Sarmadi further expressed hope that other European states
would gain a proper comprehension of the real grounds for regional violence,
extremism, and terrorism.
He further warned that terrorism has gone beyond sensible boundaries
and has now turned into a global threat.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Sarmadi appreciated the Polish
ambassador for his good offices to improve bilateral ties between Iran and
Poland, and hoped relations would expand through joint efforts in the future.
Gojlo, in turn, briefed the Iranian official on his
achievements as the ambassador, and said that he hoped that relations between Iran
and Poland would improve further after a nuclear deal is made between the Islamic
Republic and the 5+1 group.
