Tehran, YJC. Iran’s senior negotiator has said that the country and the 5+1 group (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) are slated to resume the next round of nuclear negotiations this month.
The Iranian Deputy
Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said the talks are to be held in Geneva on
January 18.
Speaking in an interview
with the Islamic Republic News Agency, he further explained that the meetings are
to be held at the level of deputy foreign ministers.
The senior Iranian
negotiator also maintained that prior to the talks, the Iranian negotiating
team is to hold bilateral talks with delegations representing the US and
Russia.
Referring to an
announcement earlier the day by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif that the
talks would begin on January 15, he explained that the bilateral talks are to
begin on that date.
Iran and the 6 global
powers failed on the self-imposed November 24 deadline to make a final nuclear deal.
So, they agreed to extend the negotiations until July 1, 2015.
