Tehran, YJC. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister in Arab and African Affairs has said Iran is readiny to extend ties to the African Union (UA).
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister
for Arab and African Affairs, made the remarks at a meeting with the Commissioner
for Human Resources, Science and Technology of the African Union Martial
De-Paul Ikounga here in Tehran on Tuesday.
The Iranian diplomat stressed the significance of
cooperation with the AU, with the Human Resources, Science and Technology
Commission in particular, saying that Iran is ready to have comprehensive relations
with the AU as well as with African countries.
He further asserted that despite decades-long western
sanctions, the Islamic Reputlic has achieved great successes in the strategic
fields of human resources, science and technology.
De-Paul Ikounga, in his turn, hailed Iran's successful
development and progress and called for
ethe xpansion of cooperative ties between Iran and the AU in different
fields as one of the objectives set by the AU.
De-Paul Ikounga pointed out Africa’s need for Iran's
experiences in tech and economic development areas and said, the purpose of his
visit to Tehran had been to examine chances of cooperation between Iran and the
AU in various fields.
