Tehran, YJC. Iran's President Hassan Rouhani has said that regardless of geographical or ethnic differences, Iran will support people that fight terrorism.
Rouhani made the remarks in the 28th International
Conference on Islamic Unity in Tehran on Wednesday.
"In the past year, the Islamic world has seen much
bloodshed, disagreement, and war. Unity will not be brought back to the Islamic
world by repeating the world. The Islamic unity conference can be a first step
in the tough path to unity.”
If we are going to unite, we must recognize Islamic sect as the
branches of the same bough, he asserted.
Pointing out that the Islamic nation cannot accept parts of its
lands to be ravaged by war and occupation, Rouhani said "If we seek unity in
the Islamic world, we must consider the Sunni and Shia from Damascus to the
Zeidi in Yemen and the Kurd in Iraq as the single Islamic nation.”
The president also called on the parties participating the event
to condemn media, especially satellite channels, that work against one or
another religious sect.
Last week Iran's security sources announced that they had
shut down the headquarters of 27 satellite channels in the country which they
said had been trying to spread disagreement among sects.
"The Islamic Republic will support the Muslims who fight for
their land’s freedom in the face of occupiers,” he asserted.
