Tehran, YJC. Iran's Shamkhani has stated that the withdrawal of NATO forces from Afghanistan would serve as an opportunity for the country’s armed forces to prove themselves against terrorism.
Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of Supreme National Security
Council made the remarks in a series of talks with Afghanistan's National
Security Adviser Mohmmad Hanif Atmar.
The Iranian official further
noted that with NATO forces’ drawing out of Afghanistan, the country’s army and
security forces would finally have a chance to demonstrate their power in
defending national interests and maintaining security in the face of terrorist
groups.
In the meeting, the two parties stressed the need to develop
bilateral ties in order to withhold regional security and stability.
Shamkhani further urged extensive and strategic cooperation accompanied
by the continuation of security talks between Iran and Afghanistan, pointing to
the need to achieve sustainable solutions for securing the joint borders of the
two countries.
"The prevalence of insecurity and terrorist operations is a
long-standing policy implemented by enemies for the national countries and
their nations,” asserted Shamkhani.
He further noted that
that the enemies have in the course of time used such inimical policies as a
pretext by which to justify their military, economic and political manipulations.
