Tehran, YJC. Borujerdi said on Wednesday that the ongoing 'Mohammad Rasoulallah' military exercises in southern Iran have proven that no extra-regional forces are needed to secure the region.
Speaking to the local Islamc Republic News Agency on the
sidelines of the war games’ closing day in the port city of Jask, Chairman of
Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Ala’aeddin Boroujerdi stated
the military drill has surely 'demonstrated Iran’s integrity and power to guarantee
the region’s stability.'
The six-day series of exercises began on December 25 in a
2.2 million-square-kilometer area that stretches from the east of the Strait of
Hormuz in southern Iran down to the southern parts of the Gulf of Aden.
The drills are participated by units from ground forces as
well as Air Force fighters and Navy vessels of the Iranian Army. The wargames
are aimed at improving rapid reaction by the armed forces.
Iranian officials say the drills have carried a message of
peace and friendship to regional countries and are to guarantee the restoration
of peace and stability to the area, Boroujerdi added.
