Tehran, YJC. Borujerdi said on Wednesday that the ongoing 'Mohammad Rasoulallah' military exercises in southern Iran have proven that no extra-regional forces are needed to secure the region.

The six-day series of exercises began on December 25 in a 2.2 million-square-kilometer area that stretches from the east of the Strait of Hormuz in southern Iran down to the southern parts of the Gulf of Aden.

The drills are participated by units from ground forces as well as Air Force fighters and Navy vessels of the Iranian Army. The wargames are aimed at improving rapid reaction by the armed forces.

Iranian officials say the drills have carried a message of peace and friendship to regional countries and are to guarantee the restoration of peace and stability to the area, Boroujerdi added.
