Iranian armed forces scheduled to stage large-scale drills

Tehran, YJC. A top commander says the Iranian armed forces a big series of military exercises backed by Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base to display Iran’s military prowess.

"The military might of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be put to show in a joint maneuver, named Mohammad Rasoulallah , by the Army’s ground, naval and air forces and with the support of Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base,” Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, commander of the Iranian Navy said on Tuesday.

Taking 6 days, the exercises will begin on Thursday with the goal of displaying power and lasting peace and fraternity in line with Muslim and regional unity.


The series of exercises will cover an area of 2.2 million square kilometers stretching from the east of the Strait of Hormuz down to the southern parts of the Gulf of Aden.

The naval commander said the marine forces would deploy different classes of military equipment and weapons to show Iran’s power in territorial waters.

Habibollah Sayyari added that various types of missiles, destroyers, submarines, warships, aircraft and helicopters are going to be used in the drill in a bid to improve the country’s naval self-image.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has frequently announced that its military might is going to pose no harm to other countries, maintaining that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
