Tehran, YJC. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that Tehran and Ankara should seek common grounds in regional issues as a way to help regional stability.
Hassan Rouhani made the remarks at a meeting with the Foreign
Minister of neighbor country Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, in Tehran on Wednesday.
He said "Iran and Turky must seek common and important grounds
in regional issues,” adding "The 2 countries’ close bilateral efforts could
help bring about stability and security for the entire region.”
He emphasized that "longer steps” must be taken in boosting
relations on economic, political, and cultural grounds.
The Iranian president noted that some important decisions
had been made during the visits the two countries’ presidents have had of the
other’s country each.
For his part, the Turkish minister said "We believe that we can
reach significant solutions by helping and cooperating with each other.”
Çavuşoğlu had also held talks with Iranian Speaker of Majlis
(Parliament) Ali Larijani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif after his
arrival in Tehran earlier in the day.
