Khatibzadeh: US Should Stop Efforts to Maintain the Maximum PressureDuring remarks in his weekly press conference, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said if US stops its efforts to maintain the maximum pressure policy, the Vienna talks could end up.

He blamed the US for the delay in reaching an agreement and noted “In case it removes all anti-Iran sanctions and stops its efforts to maintain the maximum pressure policy components, we could end up in a deal soon in Vienna.”

He went on to add that “Iran's initiative was conveyed to the other side before the meeting of the Board of Governors. This initiative was conveyed and submitted, but the US once again decided to delay this agreement. We can finalize an agreement only if US fulfills its commitments and lifts sanctions imposed on the Iranian nation.”

Prior to this, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian called for an end to the United States’ sanctions and also the IAEA’s political approaches in this regard.

Recently, Washington threatened Tehran with more sanctions if the JCPOA revival talks fail and last week, US President Joe Biden imposed a new round of sanctions on Iranian petrochemical producers

Also, in a meeting of the IAEA’s Board of Governors an anti-Iran resolution, drafted by Britain, France, Germany, and the US has been approved.
