Tehran, YJC. Iranian Foreign Minister said on Wednesday that the violence and extremism in the Middle East are the outcome of faulty policies.
The international community and all regional actants are
obliged to recognize violence and extremism as the number one threat to global
peace and stability, Mohammad Javad Zarif said at the International World
Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) Conference in Tehran.
He noted that not taking the campaign against violence and
extremism into consideration is as dangerous as underestimating the threat of
terrorism and extremism, which can come with serious repercussions.
"The roots of extremism and violence should first be sought
in the minds of people,” he noted.
Extremism and violence are in no way new things, what is new
is the modern styles of extremism and violence which have connected ideology
and technology, he noted.
Zarif stated that regional players are trying to tap
violence and extremism in order to reach their individual and political interests.
The foreign minister also said occupations, crackdowns,
violations of basic human rights, hegemony, foreign invasions, colonialism, backwardnesss,
poverty, injustice, and sanctions are objective factors that contribute to the
creation of extremism and violence.
