Thursday, 9 June 2022 (YJC)_ Iran’s Acting Ambassador to the IAEA named the recent resolution against the country as a heavy blow.
Addressing the IAEA Board of Governors after adoption of the resolution, Iran’s Acting Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency Mohammad Reza Gha'ebi named the recent resolution against the country as a heavy blow.
“Iran has extensive cooperation with the IAEA, therefore after this resolution it is not fair to expect the country to have cooperation with the Agency,” he said.
He referred to the recent resolution and said “the IAEA’s credit and integrity in its safeguards and non-proliferation regime is undermined right now. Honest and extensive cooperation with the Agency is weakened. This is a heavy blow to the IAEA.”
Gha’ebi finally noted that “such resolutions cannot encourage Iran to increase its cooperation and also we will not be forced to back down on our basic principles. Iran will give a proportionate response.”
