Saturday, 4 June 2022 (YJC)_ A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomed the extension of the ceasefire in Yemen for another two months and reiterated the political solution to the Yemeni crisis.

Iran welcomes extension of ceasefire in Yemen for another 2 monthsThe spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Saeed Khatibzadeh, today (Saturday) welcomed the agreement of the parties involved in Yemen with the proposal of the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy to extend the ceasefire for another two months.

According to Fars, the UN Envoy for Yemen announced on Thursday, June 3, that the Yemeni ceasefire has been extended for another two months.

Saeed Khatibzadeh further said in response to the two-month extension of the ceasefire in Yemen:
In the light of these efforts, the Islamic Republic of Iran hopes to see the complete lifting of the siege, the establishment of a lasting ceasefire and the achievement of a political solution.

Khatibzadeh announced:
The Islamic Republic of Iran, based on its strategic vision and principled policies, has always considered the solution to the Yemeni crisis as political and has used all its capacity to promote a just peace based on the realities of Yemen.

The UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, announced on Thursday (June 12th) that the parties to the conflict in Yemen had agreed to the terms of the original agreement, extending the ceasefire for another two months.

According to the announcement, the fire has re-entered the implementation phase since Thursday. Grundberg also announced that he would continue his efforts to institutionalize the ceasefire until a lasting political solution is reached.

On April 2, a UN envoy announced the start of a three-month ceasefire in Yemen, halting ground, naval and air strikes, facilitating the entry of 18 fuel-carrying ships into al-Hudaidah ports, and authorizing weekly flights from designated destinations to Sanaa airport and vice versa.
