Tuesday, 31 May 2022 (YJC)_ Russia's permanent representative to international organizations said in response to the sixth package of EU anti-Russian sanctions, which includes oil sanctions, that Russia would find other customers for its oil.
"Russia's permanent representative to international organizations based in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, has reacted to the sixth package of EU sanctions against Russia, which includes sanctions on part of the country's oil," he said.
Russia will find other importers for its oil.
Ulyanov tweeted today (Tuesday) in response to a tweet from European Commission President Ursula von Federline announcing a Russian oil embargo:
As he rightly said yesterday, Russia will find other importers. It is noteworthy that he is now violating his statements yesterday. A very rapid change of mindset shows that the EU is not in a good position.
Ursula von Federline noted that the European Union hopes to cut off 90 percent of Russia's oil imports by the end of this year.
The President of the Council of Europe, Charles Michel, announced the consensus this morning after the two countries failed to reach an agreement on sanctions against oil imports from Russia. Michelle announced in a Twitter message that the union's member states had agreed to boycott most oil imports from Russia.
Michelle explained in the statement:
An agreement was reached to ban Russian oil imports to the European Union. This immediately covers more than two-thirds of Russia's oil imports and reduces its huge source of funding for its war machine.
