Monday, 30 May 2022 (YJC)_ The Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy noted the willingness of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan to participate in the Chabahar port project and locate their goods.

Expressing the desire of Tajikistan and several Central Asian countries to participate in the port of ChabaharMehdi Safari, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy, said today (Monday) on the sidelines of a conference between Iran and the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization on Tajikistan's participation in the port of Chabahar:
Not only Tajikistan, but also Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan all expressed interest in participating in the Chabahar port project and visited the sites. Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan have found places where they can build stations for themselves to transit their cargo.

He added:
Not only Tajikistan, but others as well, and the Kyrgyz Minister of Roads visited Chabahar twice. These countries went to Chabahar and are talking to ports and shipping companies to provide them with places where their cargo can be moved in transit and back and forth.

In response to a question about the finalization of the Black Sea-Persian Gulf Corridor Agreement, he said:
The corridor south of the Persian Gulf to the north has been there for several years, and this corridor went to Russia, the Caucasus and Central Asia. We also had a corridor that went to Turkey from the south and from there to Europe, and now this corridor, of which Turkey is a member, is the Black Sea corridor, which gives us more potential for transit.

He added:
If we assume that we have a capacity of 500 million tons, it can reach 20 million tons in the first phase. This does not mean that we leave Turkey, now and sometimes our trucks stay in Turkey for a month.
