Friday, 27 May 2022 (YJC)_ The Chinese Foreign Ministry said that Washington was dragging the world into the abyss of destruction, saying that US talk and activities about Taiwan were contradictory.
Contradictory statements by the president and other US officials about military aid to Taiwan, along with claims of adherence to the "one China" principle, provoked a sharp reaction from the Beijing government.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said today (Friday):
The United States says one thing about Taiwan and does another.
According to the RIA Novosti website, Wang criticized the US's repeated accusations against China during a daily news conference:
Washington will not be able to use what it calls the Chinese threat to solve its problems, and it will plunge the world into the abyss of destruction.
He urged Washington to end the "Chinese threat to world order" bubble, saying the US was spreading false information against China to distort Beijing's foreign policy and interfere in its internal affairs.
The Chinese diplomat continued:
The US says China is the most serious long-term challenge to world order. This is a distortion of the truth, China has always been, is and will always be a defender of international order.
According to the report, Wang responded to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's anti-Chinese allegations by saying that he was spreading false information, exaggerating the Chinese threat, and deliberately belittling China's foreign and domestic policy to limit China's development.
He further stated:
China expresses its strong dissatisfaction and serious protest. China maintains a system of international relations centered on the United Nations, maintains an international order based on international law, while the United States imposes its own laws and seeks only to maintain the order in which it plays a leading role.
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman called on the United States to stop interfering in China's internal affairs, adding:
We also want to warn the American side against underestimating the strong determination, strong will and broad capabilities of the Chinese people to protect national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Earlier, Blinken said in a speech on US policy toward China that Washington saw Beijing as the most serious long-term challenge to the current world order.
