Wednesday, 25 May 2022 (YJC)_ The chief of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a speech that the world is in danger of a war between the great powers.
Mark Jill, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said on Tuesday that Russia had violated the world order and was attacking Ukraine illegally with the aim of gaining control of it.
The Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff continued:
We are in danger of a war between the great powers.
He said:
What is happening in Ukraine is a direct result of the way World War II ended, when Russia invaded Ukraine and violated all the laws that had been in place since 1945.
Meanwhile, Jens Stoltenberg, secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, said on Tuesday that the coalition would not intervene directly in Ukraine and would never send troops to the country.
Speaking at the Davos World Conference in Switzerland, he added:
NATO will never be part of the war in Ukraine and there will be no direct NATO involvement in this war.
Meanwhile, Sergei Kushliev, head of the North American office at the Russian Foreign Ministry, warned that shipments of weapons from the United States and other NATO countries to Ukraine would be targeted.
He added:
We emphasize to the Americans that Russian forces have the right to consider arms shipments to Ukraine from the United States and NATO as legitimate targets.
