The recent arrest of two European nationals who organized the riots in Iran has made headlines, and a State Department spokesman has taken a proactive stance on some of the protests in Iran.
Despite the continuation of the US "maximum pressure" campaign against Iran, which began under Donald Rattamp's administration and has continued under Joe Biden's administration, US State Department spokesman Ned Price has claimed US support for the "rights of the Iranian people."
The US official mentioned on his Twitter page the sporadic protests in Iran, which have sometimes turned into riots in some places.
A State Department spokesman claimed:
Brave protesters in Iran have stood up for their rights. It is the right of the Iranian people to hold their government accountable. We support their right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, both online and offline, without fear of retaliation.
