The Taliban invited Ashraf Ghani to attend the Afghan AssemblyThe Taliban ambassador to Moscow, Jamal Nasser Gharwal, confirmed that the Taliban had invited former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to attend a meeting of the Afghan Assembly.

Jamal Nasser Gharwal said:
It is not yet clear whether the Afghan Assembly will be a Loya Jirga; But preparations for this meeting are underway.

Some news sources, however, claimed that the Taliban had agreed to hold an emergency meeting or "Afghan Assembly" and that a commission chaired by Mullah Baradar, the first deputy prime minister of the interim government, had been set up to prepare for the meeting.

A reliable source told Kabul's Sobh newspaper that Mullah Khairullah Khairkhah, the caretaker minister for refugees, and a number of other senior Taliban officials will also be on the commission.

Earlier, various countries called on the Taliban to end the crisis in Afghanistan by setting up an inclusive government with the participation of various ethnic groups.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid had previously announced the possibility of holding an "Afghan forum" to discuss Afghanistan.
