Saturday, 14 May 2022 (YJC)_ In a joint statement, 15 European countries called on Israeli officials to reverse their decision to build more than 4,000 Zionist units.
Fifteen European countries, including France, Germany and Italy, on Friday (yesterday) issued a statement calling on officials of the occupying Israeli regime to stop the construction of more than 4,000 Zionist units in the West Bank.
The statement from these countries reads:
We are concerned about the decision of the Israeli Planning Council to agree to the construction of more than 4,000 Zionist units in the West Bank, and we urge the Israeli authorities to abandon this decision.
The foreign ministers also called on Israeli officials to refrain from carrying out operations to destroy and forcibly relocate Palestinians to the "Yata Passenger" in the West Bank.
According to the Rai Al-Youm newspaper, the foreign ministers of France, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Sweden also stressed:
The new housing units are an obstacle to a two-state solution and a clear violation of international law, and an obstacle to a just, lasting and comprehensive peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
The West Bank Interim Zionist Civil Organization recently announced that a settlement subcommittee affiliated with the Tel Aviv High Planning Council will convene to approve a new settlement plan. The new plan is to approve 3,988 new Zionist units. The project coincides with media reports about a possible visit by US President Joe Biden to the occupied territories and Tel Aviv's attempt to hold a meeting with Arab leaders.
