Thursday, 12 May 2022 (YJC)_ Spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran said the country believes Rafael Grossi’s recent remarks could have been distorted by the media.
In reaction to the allegations raised by certain media outlets, spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi said the country believes Rafael Grossi’s recent remarks could have been distorted by the media.
Prior to this, certain media outlets quoted that International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Chief Rafael Grossi claims uranium has been discovered in unannounced locations in Iran and Iran has not responded the IAEA's question in this regard in the last few months.
Now, AEOI Spox. said “Such statements were unexpected from Grossi, therefore, we started verifying these statements on Tuesday and also asked Iran’s Permanent Envoy in IAEA, Mr. Ghaebi, to discuss this issue with Mr. Grossi and the Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Safeguards, Massimo Aparo."
He went on to add that “Iran believes that IAEA Chief’s remarks have been distorted for political purposes, we don’t believe that Director-General of IAEA has raised the issue that Iran does not cooperate with the IAEA.”
In his remarks in March, during a press conference in Vienna after returning from Iran, Grossi said that relations between Tehran and the IAEA were moving towards a better atmosphere.
