Thursday, 12 May 2022 (YJC)_ The US special envoy for Yemen claimed that Saudi Arabia was determined to end the conflict in Yemen, but that Iran was less determined.

Washington's claim: Saudi Arabia is determined to end the conflict in Yemen, but Iran is notThe US special envoy for Yemen, Timothy Linderking, said Saudi Arabia was determined to end the conflict in Yemen and rely on recent developments such as a ceasefire and the formation of a presidential council.

In an interview with Al-Hurra, Linderking said that for the first time since the start of the conflict in 2014, Yemen is facing an exceptional opportunity for peace.

He also claimed:
It seems that Iran's behavior to critique the conflict has not changed as it did before the ceasefire, and Iran is less determined than Saudi Arabia to end the conflict peacefully. Unfortunately, Iran intensified the conflict before the ceasefire, and now there is no change. Iran's behavior towards Yemen is not visible.

According to the Al-Khaleej Online website, Linderking also spoke about the possibility of re-inserting Ansarullah in the list of terrorist organizations:
We are closely monitoring the behavior of the parties, but our current focus is definitely on the ceasefire, and we hope that it will continue until June 2, after which the United States will consider extending the ceasefire and relying on it to achieve a permanent ceasefire.

He emphasized the need to focus on Saudi Arabia, and said that it was even more important now with the crisis.
70,000 Americans live in Saudi Arabia and 60,000 in the UAE, and in this respect there is a direct connection to American security because a large number of Americans live in these two countries.
