Monday, 9 May 2022 (YJC)_ The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the promotion of cooperation between the two countries and the development of parliamentary relations.
Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rao and his accompanying delegation, who are in Tehran, met this afternoon with the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.
The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly in this meeting, referring to the relations with the history of the two countries, added:
I hope that the parliaments of the two countries will be able to interact more with each other in the form of friendship groups and specialized commissions, and that this cooperation will expand, especially in the economic fields, with the activities of the private sectors of the two countries.
In another part of his speech, he said that unfortunately, sometimes phenomena cause the weakening of relations between the two countries, he said:
We are now witnessing the unilateral behavior of the United States with the imposition of oppressive sanctions that violate all human rights and international law.
Zbigniew Rao also thanked Qalibaf for providing the opportunity for the meeting and said: "Iran-Poland relations are very old and date back to the 16th century, which shows that not only the governments of Iran and Poland but also the people of the two countries." They also interacted and communicated with each other.
"Today we are witnessing many human tragedies in the world," he said.
In this context, it is very important to remember that 80 years ago, the noble people of Iran hosted Polish refugees in World War II.
"As a former member of the Parliamentary Economic Committee, I believe that parliamentary diplomacy can be very effective in expanding relations between the two countries," he said.
Today, there are great opportunities to strengthen economic relations between the two countries.
Rao added that parliamentary diplomacy, which could play a vital role, should be expanded in order to develop relations between the two countries:
Certainly, after the corona subsides, parliamentary visits between the two countries will resume, and we will encourage the parliaments in this regard. Cultural exchanges are the result of cultural interactions between the two countries.
