Monday, 9 May 2022 (YJC)_ Referring to the conflict in Ukraine, the President said during the meeting with the Polish Foreign Minister: "As the Islamic Republic of Iran opposes the conflict and the war, it also declares its strong opposition to NATO's expansionist policies."

Raeisi: We oppose both war and NATO expansionismAyatollah Seyyed Ibrahim Raeisi, President of the Republic of Poland, during a meeting with Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rao on Sunday evening, noted the Polish people's appreciation for the Iranian support for Polish refugees in World War II:
The rich historical background and civilization of Iran and Poland can be a good platform for strengthening scientific and cultural interactions between the two countries.

Noting that the current level of economic and trade relations between Tehran and Warsaw is not commensurate with the political relations between the two countries, the President added:
There are various capacities, including in the industrial and economic fields in the two countries, which we must realize through joint efforts in order to expand interactions between us.

In another part of his speech, referring to the conflict in Ukraine, Raeisi said:
The Islamic Republic of Iran, as opposed to the conflict and the war, declares its strong opposition to NATO's expansionist policies.

Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rao also said during the meeting:
The history of relations between Iran and Poland dates back to the 16th century. The two countries have had friendly relations for almost 5 centuries, and one of the most memorable phrases in the relations between the two countries is the hospitality of Iranian refugees from Poland during World War II.

The Polish Foreign Minister pointed out that the two countries have a lot in common:
The people of Iran and Poland have resisted the interference of great and foreign powers in the affairs of their country.

"The level of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries is not favorable," Zbigniew Rao said.
Poland wants to revive and enhance its cooperation with Iran in the trade, economic, cultural and scientific fields.
