Sunday, 8 May 2022 (YJC)_ Referring to the destruction of 31 Ukrainian command posts in missile strikes, a Russian Defense Ministry spokesman said Ukrainian planes had also been shot down at military airfields in several areas.
Russia's Defense Ministry said Saturday evening that its missile force had targeted 31 Ukrainian command posts.
Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said in a statement:
On Saturday, Russian missile and artillery forces targeted 31 command posts and 245 bases, focus areas and military equipment of Ukrainian forces.
According to Reuters, the statement also said that military airports in several Ukrainian cities were targeted by Russian surface-to-air missiles.
A spokesman for the ministry explained:
High-precision missiles have destroyed Ukrainian planes at airports in the Artesian, Odessa and Vuzhensk regions.
Konashenkov further reported that Russian Alexander missiles hit American and European military equipment near Kharkiv.
Earlier, Russian Senate Speaker Valentina Matvinko warned that no country could surprise Moscow, and that militant tendencies against it would not go unanswered.
