The South Korean military says North Korea fired an unidentified missile into the Sea of Japan.
North Korea fired an unidentified missile at a news conference on Saturday (today), citing the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff. South Korea fired an unidentified projectile into the Sea of Japan, South Korea's state-run Yonhap news agency reported.
Western media, such as AFP, reported that North Korea's move came after the country fired a missile three days ago and warned that it might conduct a nuclear test.
Although North Korean officials have not yet commented, the Japanese Defense Ministry has said the missile may be a ballistic missile.
Earlier, the Financial Times quoted a report by the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington as saying that North Korea was preparing for its first nuclear test since 2017.
