Saturday, 7 May 2022 (YJC)_ The US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs announced Washington's opposition to the plan to expand Zionist settlements in occupied Palestine.

Washington: We strongly oppose the expansion of Tel Aviv settlementsThe US State Department last night (Friday) condemned the reports about the plan to expand the settlements of the interim Zionist regime in the West Bank.

According to Russia Today, Jalina Porter, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, said in a telephone interview with CNN:
The policy of President Joe Biden's administration was clear from the beginning, and we strongly oppose the expansion of settlements.

Porter added:
This will lead to increased tensions and a loss of trust between the two sides; Israel's plan to expand settlements is severely undermining the possibility of a two-state solution.

The remarks were made by the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs two weeks ago (Thursday), when the Zionist interim government announced that the Tel Aviv High Planning Council would convene to approve a new settlement plan.

The plan includes the construction of about 4,000 new Zionist units in the West Bank, and it is said that Tel Aviv's decision to implement it coincided with the possibility of the US President's visit to the occupied territories.
