The Finnish government, which plans to join NATO in the near future, has announced that it will send more military weapons to Ukraine.
According to Sputnik, Finnish Defense Minister Anti-Kaikenen said that his country was going to send more military equipment to Ukraine, but that details would be kept confidential to ensure that they reached their destination.
Kaikenen wrote in a press release:
Finland has supported Ukraine in a number of ways, including military items. Ukraine is in dire need of more help. We will increase the amount of defense aid sent to Ukraine.
The Finnish government has so far sent 2,500 machine guns, 150,000 rounds of ammunition, 1,500 anti-tank weapons and 70,000 packages of military rations to the Ukrainians.
On the other hand, Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy head of Russia's National Security Council, has said that NATO intends to send nuclear weapons to Sweden and Finland.
However, the Finnish military on Wednesday denied reports of military equipment being sent to the border with Russia.
