Friday, 6 May 2022 (YJC)_ Claiming continued Russian attacks on the Mariupol steel plant, the British military intelligence service claimed that Russian casualties in the war had eroded their operations south of Donbas.
At the same time as Russia insisted on ending the fighting in Mariupol to evacuate civilians as well as troops trapped in a factory in the city, Britain claimed that Russian attacks on Mariupol would continue.
The British Army Intelligence Service claimed today (Friday):
Russian forces in Mariupol have continued their ground attack on the Azofestal steel plant for a second day, contrary to Russian claims that they are only seeking to block its entrances.
According to the organization's website, the statement claims:
Russia's renewed efforts to secure Azofestal and complete the capture of Mariupol are likely linked to the May 9 Victory Day celebrations and Putin's desire for symbolic success in Ukraine.
The British Ministry of Defense claimed in its report:
This effort has come at the cost of personnel, equipment and ammunition to Russia. As Ukraine's resistance to Azofestal continues, Russian damage is eroding and thwarting their operational plans south of the Donbas.
Earlier, London claimed that Russia was seeking full control of the Black Sea coast in Ukraine, citing Russian missile strikes across Ukraine.
