Monday, 2 May 2022 (YJC)_ Swedish Ambassador to Tehran was summoned to the Iranian foreign ministry.
The Iranian foreign ministry called in Swedish Ambassador to Tehran Matthias Lentz to express Iran's protest at the imprisonment of the country's ex-official on human rights allegations.
The Iranian Foreign ministry expressed strongest protest over “the baseless and fabricated” charges against Hamid Nouri and condemned the continued detention of the former Iranian official as “totally illegal”.
“Sweden should end the political show of Nouri's trial and release the Iranian national,” the FM said in the statement.
The charges against Nouri stem from accusations leveled against him by members of anti-Iran Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO also known as MEK, NCRI or PMOI) terrorist group. Upon arrival in Sweden at Stockholm Airport in 2019 he was arrested, was immediately imprisoned and has been held in solitary confinement for over two years.
