Monday, 2 May 2022 (YJC)_ An American with a military background has been sent to Ukraine to join volunteers from other countries in the fight against Russia, an analytical-news site reported.
Americans with military background have been sent to Ukraine to fight Russian troops alongside Ukrainian troops and volunteers from other countries, while US troops have so far openly sent troops to Ukraine, the Politico news website reported. Ukraine has not spoken out against Russia, claiming that only military equipment, humanitarian aid and money will be sent to Kiev.
According to the report, Harrison Josephovich, a former U.S. Army veteran and former Chicago police officer, heads a group called the Yankee Task Force, which says it has "placed more than 190 volunteers on battlefields and other maps, and about "They have provided 15,000 first-aid kits, relocated more than 80 families, and provided dozens of food packages and medical supplies to the southern and eastern factions of the Ukraine war."
The US veteran has claimed that thousands of Americans and other volunteers are in Ukraine to fight Russia, as Politico reports. On the other hand, the Ukrainian embassy in Washington "has filled out requests from thousands of Americans seeking help in the Ukraine war and is using the Internet to recruit volunteers as a foreign force, the International Ukrainian Defense Legion."
Russia's Investigative Committee announced April 27 that at least 16 armed groups of mercenaries from 50 countries have been formed in Ukraine.
The news comes as US lawmaker Adam Kinzinger has introduced a bill in Congress that would allow US President Joe Biden to deploy US troops in Ukraine if Russia uses weapons of mass destruction.
