TEHRAN, YJC. The foreign ministers of Iran and Syria plan to hold talks in Tehran on Monday.
During the meeting, Mohammad Javad Zarif and Walid Muallem
will exchange views on a whole gamut of issues that include the latest
developments in the region and the world as well as oppportunities to promote
Tehran-Damascus relations.
The Iranian foreign minister also plans to hold a meeting
with the Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jafari in Tehran later on Sunday.
The Iraqi and Syrian foreign ministers are in Iran to take
part in WAVE (World Against Violence and Extremism) confab., which is slated to
be held on Tuesday and Wednesday with the aim of seeking new strategies to curb
the menace of violence and extremism worldwide.
Many countries from Asia, Africa and South America are to
partake the event, Mostafa Zahrani, secretary of the WAVE (World Against
Violence and Extremism) conference, stated at a news conference on Saturday.
Zahrani noted that the outcome of the WAVE conference will
be submitted to the United Nations in the form of strategic demands.
