Friday, 29 April 2022 (YJC)_ Claiming to limit Russia's ground advance and incur high costs, the British Defense Department's intelligence service said Moscow intended to take control of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Coinciding with the Ukraine crisis and Russia's special military operation in that country on its 64th day, Britain claimed to restrict Russian ground advance.
The British Army Intelligence Service claimed today (Friday):
The Battle of Donbas is still Russia's main strategic axis to achieve its stated goal of controlling the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
According to the organization's website, the statement reads:
In these provinces, fighting was intense, especially around Lysichansk and Sorodontsk, with attempts to advance south from Izium to Slovensk.
The British Ministry of Defense claimed in its report:
Due to the strong resistance of Ukraine, Russia's ground advances have been limited and have been achieved at a significant cost to Russian forces.
Earlier, British Foreign Secretary Liz Terrace stressed the need to cut off oil and gas imports from Russia, saying that Moscow should increase its financial resources for the war against Ukraine.
