Monday, 25 April 2022 (YJC)_ Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman announced the resumption of Vienna talks is agreed by Iran and EU.
During his remarks in a press conference in Tehran on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh announced the resumption of Vienna talks is agreed by Iran and EU and added that the UN nuclear watchdog has been notified of transferring centrifuge machines.
“As Tehran and EU see the inappropriateness of the current pause in Vienna talks, they agreed to resume it, Decision has not yet been made on where this meeting will take place and at what level, but it is on the agenda,” he noted.
He went on to talks about Natanz site and added “Iran is a member of the NPT and has accepted the non-proliferation regime. IAEA was aware of the transfer of centrifuges from Karaj to Natanz, we abide by rules of safeguards. We are allowed to take any action based on our peaceful needs, with the notification and under the supervision of the Agency according to its charter.”
Former US president Donald Trump unilaterally left the JCPOA in May 2018 and re-imposed the anti-Iran sanctions that the deal had lifted. He also placed additional sanctions on Iran under other pretexts not related to the nuclear case as part of his “maximum pressure” campaign.
