Officials from the United Arab Emirates and the King of Jordan congratulated Shahbaz Sharif on his election as Prime Minister of Pakistan yesterday (Tuesday).
According to the Anatolian News Agency and the official news agency of the UAE government, "Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan" the ruler of Abu Dhabi and the head of state, "Muhammad bin Rashid" the ruler of Dubai and the deputy prime minister and "Muhammad bin Zayed" the crown prince of Abu Dhabi in separate official messages Sharif was congratulated on his election as Pakistan's new Prime Minister.
The King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, also congratulated Sharif on his election as Prime Minister of Pakistan in an official message, wishing him success in his duties.
The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain are the first Arab states in the Persian Gulf region to congratulate Sharif as Pakistan's prime minister.
Pakistan's parliament on Monday ousted Imran Khan and elected Shahbaz Sharif, a former Pakistani opposition leader, as the country's new prime minister; Imran Khan was ousted under American pressure.
