Tuesday, 12 April 2022 (YJC)_ In a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Burkina Faso, the Foreign Minister stressed Iran's serious determination to develop relations with Africa, including the country.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso, Olivia Roamba, discussed and exchanged views on bilateral issues.
In this conversation, our Foreign Minister congratulated Ms. Roamba on her appointment as the new Foreign Minister of the Burkina Faso government and wished her success in her new position.
Referring to the importance of the African continent in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Amir-Abdollahian stressed Iran's serious determination to develop relations with the continent, including Burkina Faso.
Our Foreign Minister also stressed the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to hold a joint commission for cooperation between the two countries.
Amir-Abdollahian described the activities of extremist and Takfiri terrorists in the country and the West African region as worrying.
In this telephone conversation, Ms. Olivia Roamba, while congratulating each other on the blessed month of Ramadan, expressed her hope for the development of relations.
Expressing interest in expanding political and economic relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, Foreign Minister Burkina Faso called for the expansion of scientific and technical cooperation and the receipt of various assistance from Iran, adding:
