Tuesday, 12 April 2022 (YJC)_ The Saudi ambassador, who recently returned to Beirut, met with the Lebanese prime minister.

The Saudi ambassador and the Lebanese prime minister metLebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Saudi Ambassador Walid Bukhari met in Beirut.

The Saudi ambassador returned to Beirut last Thursday after months of strained relations between Lebanon and several Arab countries following criticism of former Lebanese Information Minister George Qardahi of the Yemeni war.

During the meeting, which took place at the Saudi ambassador's home, Najib Mikati said he would travel to Saudi Arabia during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to the Al-Khaleej Online website, Mikati also said that the meeting did not address the crisis in relations between Lebanon and Arab countries, and Bukhari stressed Riyadh's interest in supporting Lebanon and standing by it.

The meeting also examined the historical relations between Lebanon and the Arabs. Mikati in response to the question of what guarantees has Lebanon given to Saudi Arabia? said:
We are talking about relations between the two countries, and Lebanon's interest in maintaining Lebanese relations and principles regarding the best relations with Saudi Arabia and the GCC member states was emphasized. I emphasized these principles in my speech and said that we are committed to supporting the Lebanese government.
