Sunday, 10 April 2022 (YJC)_ Iranian Judiciary Deputy Chief said the progress in the country’s human rights situation is based on Islamic laws.

Gharibabadi: Based on Islamic Laws, Iran’s HRS Face ProgressDuring his remarks in a recent report to the UN Human Rights Council, Iranian Judiciary Deputy Chief and Secretary-General of Iran's Human Rights Headquarters Kazzem Gharibabadi said the progress in the country’s human rights situation is based on Islamic laws.

The report was sent to the UN Human Rights Council in line with the Universal Periodic Review, known as UPR and said the “huge progress” in improving the human rights situation in Iran is based on Islamic laws.

“Iran has made huge investment in economic, cultural and social fields which guaranteed people’s rights to equal participation and progress. Despite US sanctions, Iran has made significant achievements in improving its human rights situation. Such measure practiced by US discriminately violated the basic rights of the Iranian people and left irreparable harms.” the report said.

However, the report stressed that there is always place to further improve the human rights situation, but Iran is among the countries that actively implement the UPR.

Prior to this, in March, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights in Iran is "biased" while condemning it.
