Wednesday, 6 April 2022 (YJC)_ Amid Western efforts to isolate Russia over Ukraine, the US envoy to the United Nations has said it is impossible to remove Russia from the UN Security Council.
In recent days, as Ukraine and its Western allies have called for Russia's expulsion from the UN Human Rights Council, US Representative to the UN Linda Thomas Greenfield told MSNBC that Moscow's expulsion from the UN Security Council Nations is impossible.
The US representative to the United Nations stated:
The Security Council was established as a product of the United Nations after World War II. They are members of the Security Council. this is a fact. We can not change this fact, but we can certainly isolate them in the Security Council. We can make their presence very unpleasant for them.
However, the US diplomat continued that Washington and its allies are working to remove Russia from the UN Human Rights Council.
In recent days, the West has launched a new campaign against Russia, with Kiev and the Ukrainian media releasing videos allegedly taken in the northern Ukrainian city of Bucha showing the bodies of civilians killed. Kiev has blamed Russia for the move, while Moscow strongly condemned the allegations, saying its forces had withdrawn from the area days earlier.
