In response to a letter from President Aref Alavi, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has nominated former Pakistani Supreme Court Chief Golzar Ahmad for the post of caretaker Prime Minister.
The leader of the Tehreek-e-Insaf party, Fouad Chaudhry, announced the news on his Twitter account.
He said:
In response to the president's letter, and after consulting with the PTI Central Committee and approving it, Imran Khan nominated Golzar Ahmad, the former head of the Supreme Court, for the post of caretaker prime minister.
The letter states:
Imran Khan will continue to be the Prime Minister until the appointment of a caretaker, according to Article 224 (4) of the Constitution.
Golzar Ahmad was the 27th Chief Justice of Pakistan and belongs to Karachi. He retired on February 1, 2022.
