Amir-Abdollahian: We are close to an agreement in Vienna

Sunday, 3 April 2022 (YJC)_ "We are close to an agreement in the negotiations and we have conveyed our proposals on the remaining issues to the United States through the EU negotiator, and now the ball is in American court," the Iranian foreign minister said in a telephone conversation with the UN secretary-general.

The ceasefire in Yemen and the Vienna talks were among the topics discussed at the telephone conference.

In this dialogue, the UN Secretary General congratulated the establishment of a ceasefire in Yemen, calling it a joint success and victory that has been achieved as a result of the efforts of all parties.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while expressing satisfaction with the establishment of a ceasefire in Yemen and appreciating the role of the Secretary General in this regard, emphasized:
Now is the time to take fundamental steps towards peace and stability in Yemen, and in particular the complete lifting of humanitarian sanctions.

While announcing the continuation of the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for resolving the crisis in Yemen and the end of the war in this country, Amir Abdullahian said:
We hope that the complete siege of the Yemeni people will end at the same time as the ceasefire is established, so that this important opportunity is not missed.

Our Foreign Minister stressed the importance of sending humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people.

In an interview with Guterres, our Foreign Minister also stated about the latest developments related to the negotiations on lifting sanctions on Iran in Vienna:
We are close to an agreement in the negotiations and we have conveyed our proposals on the remaining issues to the American side through the EU High Representative, and now the ball is in America's court.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also stressed the importance of the talks in Vienna and expressed hope that the two sides would reach an agreement as soon as possible.
