Friday, 1 April 2022 (YJC)_ The UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Yemen announced in a video interview with the Senior Advisor to the Foreign Minister that he plans to visit Tehran to continue consultations with Iran.

In the light of political efforts and practical measures to lift the siege, establish a ceasefire and political dialogue to prevent the continuation of the humanitarian catastrophe.

In this regard, he called the peace initiative recently presented by the President of the Yemeni Supreme Council an important step and stressed:
If we interact positively with it and have the real will to resolve the Yemeni crisis peacefully and give priority to humanitarian issues, we can see an opening on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan to end the war.

The UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Yemen also outlined his latest plans and actions, including his recent consultations with various Yemeni groups in Jordan and the latest consultations with the parties involved in the Yemeni crisis, as well as his plans to travel to Tehran. He pointed to the continuation of consultations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
