Monday, 28 March 2022 (YJC)_ The Ukrainian president announced his country's readiness to neutralize his country as part of a compromise with Russia, but called for the agreement to be guaranteed by third parties.

Zelenskyy announced readiness for Ukraine's neutralityWhile Russia had asked Kiev a few months ago to take a neutral position in the dispute between Moscow and the West, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had refused.

Zelenskyy, however, on Sunday evening, after the destruction of most of Ukraine's military infrastructure in a special Russian military operation, claimed that Kiev was ready to discuss a state of neutrality as part of a peace agreement with Russia.

According to Reuters, Zelenskyy , however, said such an agreement should be guaranteed by third parties and put to a referendum.

In a 90-minute video call to reporters, Zelenskyy claimed that the Russian invasion had destroyed Russian-speaking cities in Ukraine and that the damage was worse than the Russian wars in Chechnya.

He stated:
Security guarantees and neutrality, the non-nuclear situation of our country is what we are ready for. This is the most important point.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine had refused to discuss other Russian demands, such as demilitarization.
