Following North Korea's recent missile tests on strategic systems, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stressed the need to continue developing North Korea's strategic capabilities.
North Korea's state-run media reported on Monday morning that Kim said his country would continue to develop "strong offensive capabilities" and strengthen its strategic forces.
It was three days ago that the North Korean military tested its new intercontinental ballistic missile, the Hwasung-17.
The United States and members of the UN Security Council have imposed several rounds of sanctions on North Korea since North Korea's first nuclear test in 2006.
Despite the sanctions, North Korea has insisted on strengthening its military capability to counter the threat of US troops in the region.
North Korea says it will not back down from its missile and nuclear program until the United States ends its hostile policy to overthrow Pyongyang.
