Friday, 25 March 2022 (YJC)_ During a meeting with Amir-Abdollahian, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament called Iran the main source of resistance in the region and the inspiration of resistance movements in the world.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, met with the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, on the afternoon of Thursday, March 24, to discuss issues of mutual interest between the two countries at the bilateral, regional and international levels.
In this meeting, referring to our country's technical and engineering capabilities, the Foreign Minister announced the capability and readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to cooperate in meeting Lebanon's energy needs, including in the field of electricity and gas.
Regarding the regional and international developments, Amir-Abdollahian also stated:
In the current crises in the world, including the developments in Ukraine, the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran is clear without being influenced by foreign actors. We oppose the war in Afghanistan, Yemen or Ukraine, and at the same time it is unacceptable for us to impose unilateral sanctions on Western countries. The Islamic Republic of Iran encourages the settlement and cessation of current developments in Ukraine through political negotiations.
Referring to the current process of the Vienna talks, our Foreign Minister emphasized:
The Iranian side is serious about reaching a good and lasting agreement in these negotiations, and while it does not want the negotiation process to be prolonged, it will not cross its red lines.
In this meeting, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, referring to the lack of electricity in his country, called some mismanagements effective in this matter and stated:
After the Islamic Republic of Iran fulfilled its promise to send fuel to Lebanon, which showed Iran's support and assistance in the difficult situation of our country, the United States, despite pretending to try to mobilize the gas pipeline project and supply energy to Lebanon. Has not kept its promises so far.
Commenting on the current developments in Ukraine, Nabih Berri called it a European-European crisis, the worst of which is European countries.
He criticized the actions of some Arab countries in normalizing relations with the Zionist regime, noting:
Lebanon sacrificed thousands of martyrs to protect the cause of the Arab nations against the occupying Zionist regime; While a number of Arab countries have compromised with the mentioned regime by turning their backs on these ideals. Nabih Berri described Iran as the main source of resistance in the region and the inspiration of resistance movements in the world.
