The Iraqi Interior Ministry warned of the danger of leaking some confidential and important intelligence documents outside the security apparatus, calling it a threat to the country's national security.
The Iraqi Interior Ministry's warning came after documents and correspondence between the intelligence and security services leaked to the media and social networks from time to time; Documents that speak of the imminent terrorist attack or operation, the operation of security forces, or the existence of corruption in government institutions.
"The release of documents related to the security and intelligence services is an issue that creates many problems for them," Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesman Khalid al-Muhana told Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed.
Al-Mahna said:
The prevalence of this phenomenon is due to new technologies and smartphones, often security elements that facilitate the leakage of much of this information, documents and correspondence.
He stated:
Many of these documents reach a large number of intelligence and security elements based on the administrative hierarchy, so it is difficult to restrict the people who leak these documents, although security forces have succeeded in identifying the perpetrators of some of these cases. They have been arrested and have been brought before a military tribunal.
A spokesman for the Iraqi Interior Ministry stated:
Not all of these documents are real, but most of them are fake or related to the past. Publish on social networks.
He said:
The law criminalizes the release of classified documents and correspondence, and imposes penalties on perpetrators and security elements involved, especially if the documents are classified as confidential.
