Sunday, 20 March 2022 (YJC)_ The President of Ukraine, while announcing his readiness to continue peace talks with Russia, called on the Swiss government to confiscate the property of Russian citizens in this country.
Following the advance of Russian forces in Ukraine and the failure of Western countries, including the United States, to support Kiev, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for the resumption of peace talks with Russia.
On Saturday evening, Zelenskyy called on Switzerland to take more steps to crack down on Russian oligarchs, who he says are helping the war against their country with their own money, while calling for continued comprehensive peace talks with Moscow.
According to Reuters, he repeatedly called on foreign countries to help Ukraine, saying at an anti-war rally in Bern that Swiss banks were where "the money of the people who started the war" was stored. Their accounts must be blocked.
Zelenskyy said in the videoconference speech:
Ukrainian cities are being destroyed by the order of people living in Europe, in the beautiful cities of Switzerland, who enjoy property in their cities. It's really good to take that away from them.
The President of Ukraine further called on Moscow to hold peace talks now.
He stated:
I want everyone to hear what I have to say, especially in Moscow. It's time to meet, it's time to talk. It is time for Ukraine to restore its territorial integrity and justice. Otherwise, Russia's damage will be so great that it will take several generations to recover.
