Friday, 18 March 2022 (YJC)_ Referring to the recent Revolutionary Guards missile attack on the Mossad headquarters in Erbil and an unfounded accusation by some Iraqi officials against Iran of violating Iraqi sovereignty, an Iraqi politician stressed that Iran has maintained its sovereignty.

Iraqi politician: Iran did not violate the sovereignty of our countryAid al-Hilali, a senior member of the Iraqi Shiite Party Coordinating Committee known as Al-Attar al-Tansiqi, gave new details about the IRGC rocket attack on a building on the outskirts of Erbil in an interview with the Baghdad Al-Youm news website on Thursday evening.

Aid al-Hilali told Baghdad Al-Youm:
One roof and two airs are not right in this regard, because if we talk about the violation of the rule, our fighters attacked some terrorists, such as "Qardash" and others in Syria. Isn't this a violation? If the issue had already been coordinated with Damascus, Tehran also said it had coordinated with Baghdad before the attack.

Al-Hilali added:
The federal government is a weak government, why not when it did not file any international complaint about the killing of Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes, the commander of Nasr, against the terrorist organization ISIS. He did not file any international complaint regarding the killing of Iraqi guest Qassem Soleimani. So these condemnations and so on will end. Let everyone remember that it was Iran that played a role in maintaining the sovereignty of Iraq when it sent its people and supported our forces in eradicating the terrorist organization ISIS.

He continued:
Therefore, Iran should not be condemned for violating the sovereignty of Iraq. Iran had informed Iraq of the presence of Israelis who had targeted a number of Iraqi figures from that base.

In the end, Ayed al-Hilali stated that the IRGC missile attack on that building on the outskirts of Damascus would not affect the political dialogue between the factions of this country:
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said the attack on the Israelis in Erbil was carried out with the consent of the Iraqi government and in coordination with them. According to Khatibzadeh and what was said to the Iraqi government, there are three other targets that may attack Israeli positions.
