Monday, 14 March 2022 (YJC)_ Russia's deputy foreign minister stressed that Western pressure and sanctions would not change Moscow's course.

Moscow: With the help of our friends, we are moving towards independent economic development"Russia has not made any demands for the lifting of sanctions, and pressure from Western countries will not change our course," said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin, referring to European and US pressure to change Moscow.

According to Sputnik, Warshinin added:
Both the United States and the European Union are working hard to impose the most sanctions on Russia, reverse the trend, and force us to change our decisions, but to no avail.

Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister added:
Sanctions are not our decision. They are imposed by those who want to put pressure on Russia to put our economy and ordinary Russian citizens in a very difficult situation. And these decisions are considered a punishment for the decisions of our political sovereignty.

The Russian diplomat noted:
Russia will not ask for the lifting of these sanctions because these actions against the Russian people are illegitimate and on the other hand it is an ineffective tool for exerting pressure. Instead, we pursue our own economic development and increase our ability to develop independently by relying on our friends and like-minded people.

Since the start of Russia's operations in Ukraine, the United States, the European Union, and some of their allies, such as Japan, South Korea, Britain, Australia, and Canada, have imposed sanctions on Russian organizations, institutions, and officials.
